| Spring Showers Bring Year-Round Profits Rainy Days Are Great for Promotion It was a damp and dreary day at my son's "Little League" game. There was a light rain falling. I looked around and saw a number of people with their umbrellas opened for protection. Being a promotional adman, I took notice of what they were using. Most had what looked like very non-substantial umbrellas and a few had nicer versions. The nicest one was a vented style bearing a corporate logo; nice exposure for their brand. Promotional umbrellas are a great vehicle for brand exposure and goodwill. Just think of all the places one can have an umbrella. We all, really, need more than one...in the car, in the office, in the house (to get to the car), in the brief-case or laptop bag, in the golf bag, in your back pocket on those "iffy" outings to the zoo and such. The list can go on. There are many styles of umbrellas. Everything from one designed to go in the glove compartment to a 62" arc style design that will easily keep two people dry. Some of the virtues of using umbrellas for advertising one's brand are that umbrellas have large and multiple ad areas. The recipient feels a sense of goodwill upon receipt of the umbrella and again when it is needed. Umbrellas have a long lifespan, as people don't throw them away, resulting in many exposures of the ad message for many years. The multiple imprint areas, also, make an umbrella a perfect item for co-branding and co-op programs. An organization having an event can sell ad space on several panels to various sponsors. Everyone, that participates in the event, receives an umbrella bearing all the sponsors' branding and messages. So, the next time that you're considering a promotion, that will build goodwill with the recipient and have a long lifetime of brand exposure, give umbrellas some serious consideration.
